Today I have learnt how important classification is in films which shows what age range different people.
BBFC stands for British Board of Film Classification
It is important that films are regulated(checked)to make sure that the classification fits the right.correct age group/range, The website doesn't get any profit which I found interesting as I didnt know that before,the classification has to be the lowest as possible to fit the correct age range that it is supposed to be suitable for.
U classification on DVD covers stands for Universal. Universal is for everybody/anyone can watch the film An example of a U film is Monsters Inc, A U film is aimed mianly for children aged 4 years. under 4's have a a specific label
In a U film characters might be seen kissing/cuddling, parents behind door, Brief violence, mild fight scenes
PG stands for Parental Guidance meaning that children need permission from their parents before watching the film under the age of 15. An example of a PG film would be Toy Story. In a PG film mild language may be used .
The next classification up from a PG is 12/12A. 12 A means that you have to be at least 12 or above to watch the film and 12 means 12 year olds can watch the film. If A 12 year old or above is watching this type of film they have to be accompined by an adult when they are at a cinema, strong language is mainly used in a 12 A film, Violence is used in a 12/12A classiification film but only briefly, verbal references shouldn't go beyond what is suitable.
The 15 classification on the cover of films indicates that you have to be 15 to watch the film. No-one under the age of 15 is allowed to see this type of film. A 15 film uses strong violence, frequent strong language, drug taking and sexual rudity which a 15 year old would be able to take seriously unlike a 12 year old who wouldn't be able to take this seriously, In a 12 film violence and verbal references are used in a joke type way but in a 15 film they are used seriously. In a 15 film there is no upper limit for strong language
The classification of 18 means that only adults can see the film due to very strong language and verbal references. No-one under the age of 18 can see an 18 film.

Classification for short film group/classification
Today I have discussed with one of my group members(Amber) the classification that we will use for our short film. The classification that we have discussed is 15. This is because there is a sexual influence that will be used in our film in a serious way instead of a jokey way making it a 15 instead of a 12 or 12 A.

Case Studies
The first case study that I have chosen is an Education. The classification for this case study is a 12 a.
It is a 12 A film because of:
. sex references
. smoking
. strong language
. discrimination

This was a 12 A film because of the relationship between two characters from the picture that 12 year olds would have enjoyed when the film was out. I also think it was rated a 12A film because of mild bad language used which would have been better for a 12 A than a PG
This applies to my short film because I was thinking of doing a 12 A or 12 film. This is because I think that the idea that me and my group have come up with for our film would be better suited for someone aged 12 up. I don't think that my film will require any of the following things for a 15 as that is not what I want to head for.

You can use sound as long as it isn't more than 30 seconds, you can use audio but you cant cut them out
Two Licences need to be used to have publish voice-recording
If any sound is copyrighted from some-one else's work your Wi-Fi is taken off
You must contact people/the person the music is if it isn't your own
Licensing music:
You must ask permission to upload music
music has been out online you must ask for permission
For the YouTube description box you must reference to where you got the clip from, the clip must stay clear
Additional content:
You cant use still images for advert uses/commercial uses
You must include original name in work aswell as ask permission of models to use
If the content has been over 70 years you can use it
Only use content/still images for research
If anything has the copyright symbol you need to ask for permission(little c)

Survey results from 9 people
What type of
research did you do? The type of research that I did was Primary Research

information did you gather? The type of information that I gathered was market
research, I think it was quantative information because I used a comment box
for people to add their own feedback
Who was your
target audience? Why? My target audience was for children or teenagers because
those are the type of people that would like the sort of films that I
enjoy/that I could use
How could
this information help improve your short film? My survey could help me improve
my short film by seeing what different people prefer different sort of films.
It could help me with my short film because it gives me information on what
type of characters I should use for my short film, what people are looking for
during my short film.
Below give a
summary of your results: (remember if you have ten responses that means each
answer is worth 10% of your overall feedback.)
I only got 9 responses of my survey results. This doesn’t help as much
as it would if everybody did my survey because from the few results that I go
feedback on it doesn’t show what character they would like to see or prefer. If
I had more results, if more people did my survey then I would have better
feedback to work from. From the 9 responses that I did get I have found out
that the best type of character that the 9 responses prefer is a comedy
character. I think this is because people like a good laugh with a comedy
character. Personally I don’t like the fact that only 9 people did my survey
because it doesn’t show that much information or important information that I
need. It also shows from only 9 responses that those wanted my results to be
good compared to every-one else who didn’t do it
Look at your
results, what do they say? From my results I have found out that everyone who
did my survey likes a comedy character and an adventure or comedy film. This
helps with my short film because it shows the type of character that would make
a great short film that every-body would enjoy. I would have liked for more
than 9 people to do my survey so I could have got better results to work from
but I didn’t which is very annoying. From my results I have found out that 55.56%
people like comedy characters compared to the other 44.44% who prefer adventure characters
Summarise the
process and evaluate what impact it will have upon your short film:
My survey
results will have an impact on my short film by me choosing what type of
characters I will use to create/make a great character. No-one who did my
survey ticked the no box for liking a coloured film. All of the 9 people chose
yes which is a great result. Also I have found out that a lot more people
prefer a comedy film more than a more serious one which shows some results and
research on what characters and film I would choose to do from this research which
would make every-one happy that they will enjoy the film if Iuse this
information and results. The results was very helpful. I would use this not so
useful information in a graph so I can see the difference between each
question.
From the results of my survey it shows that for my short film I will be having one main comedy character that will make everyone happy with a more serious one like a Miranda character or a Mr Bean character. This is because I have found out that this is the sort of character that is the most popular to use in my short film. Also I have found out the type of animation people prefer is also a comedy which shows that for my short film it would be better to make a comedy short film. I will use the results from this survey for information, this has given me the idea to do a comedy short film to make people happy. It shows that different people have different opinions on different types of films and characters giving completely different results.

Research 2
This is kind of more of a horror film noir. This is because it has a gravestone in an abandoned forest or woods. This might be a secret of an unexpected death that no-one knows about with the gravestone. It might be something to do with a mirror aswell because the gravestone thing might be a mirror. This is black and white which indicates horror or a loss.
This film noir could show a secret of a person. This is because of the way the character has been made black without a recognizable face. This might show a dark character or an evil character with the way it is shown as black.

This game graphics is more creepy than the other one that I found. This is because of the colours used. It is more of a grey, dark graphic. I like the graphics because it looks 3d. It feels as though you are in the game, in the world. It is like it is your home because of the dimension of 3d.
